Can’t sleep; shoulder pain. Its had me up and awake since about 4:00 a.m.
The wound site itself looks really good but I’m still really sore and can’t move my arm much. I just remembered that the Doctor said not to lift my arms above my shoulders. Better stop doing that or I might tear something. Merrr.
I had a nasty slip & fall accident 2 months ago at a construction site by my home. When I attempted to brace my fall with my arms extended, I severely dislocated my left shoulder and twisted my ankle. I thought I’d broken my arm because I heard and felt a loud “pop” and I had severe, shooting pain that radiated downward.
Fortunately, I didn’t break my arm but an MRI shows that I tore my rotator cuff and dislocated my shoulder. The Dr. mentioned that it was no longer dislocated and that I must’ve popped it back in on my own. I think I know when I did that. I nearly dropped my iPod and when I went to grab it with my left hand, I felt and heard another loud “pop” and doubled over in pain. I’m pretty sure that’s when I popped my shoulder back in.
So, I have shoulder surgery scheduled for 15 August 2012. The Dr. is going to go in with a little camera and attempt the repair without having to do full on surgery. I should be able to go home once I come out of the anesthesia. I know it’s not a big deal but I’ve had a LOT of surgeries. I’ve had 4 surgeries, just within the past 6 years. It takes a toll on you, body & spirit. I’m very glad that my girl will be staying with me and help me out while I recuperate. I don’t know how I’d have this surgery without her.
I went to see a specialist about my left shoulder, which I thought Id broken during a fall in mid-May. It turns out my left shoulder is slightly dislocated from my fall last month.
I knew the damn ER Dr did a lousy job and didn’t provide sufficient medical care. She literally gave me ibuporfen and an ace bandage. For a dislocated left shoulder?? Seriously?!
Next I’ll have to get an MRI and then they’ll eventually painfully pop it back into socket. That’s just great. It’s totally going to hurt.
“Hurt my arm really badly a couple of weeks ago and I’m still in a great deal of pain. I thought I’d broken my arm but the Dr @ the CPMC ER said it was fine. Practically sent me home with aspirin and a…”
